For those who know me, they know I’ve been extremely active in working to place Oneida County’s new hospital on the board-approved, 64-acre, St. Luke’s campus. For over 2-1/2 years many evening had me at Utica City Hall. This is where I met Mr. Lou Poccia.
Lou is a candidate for Utica 1st Ward Common Council. From the start Lou seemed kind, wise and articulate. My support was quick when I found out Lou was against bulldozing 34-acres of downtown for a hospital district.
Senator Griffo has written me confirming the state hospital funding is not tied to any specific location. Downtown Utica is on a strong rebound, while health care is undergoing seismic changes that are totally unpredictable. Invest the $300 million wisely, across the street from a multitude of medical programs offered at Utica College - and do not bulldoze downtown!
If you agree with me, set a reminder, make a note, and please look for Lou on the November 7th ballot.
