Utica, NY, October 14, 2018 - As downtown businesses seemingly depart, #NoHospitalDowntown continues to defend the Columbia Lafayette Neighborhood.

Tomorrow at 10:30 our group will host Dennis Bova, candidate for the 119th NYS Assembly district.

Dennis will update his stance on the hospital situation and #Nohospitaldowntown will announce our endorsement, in addition to other candidates who oppose the downtown hospital concept. Three years old, and the hospital concept is a very fluid stage. Further details of the #Nohospitaldowntown campaign will be shared.

Please join us at on Monday, October 14th from 10:30AM at 10-12 Liberty Street. The future of Downtown Utica hangs in the balance.

#NoHospitalDowntown was co-founded by two business owners and former board members of Utica’s Chamber of Commerce following disturbing calls from hospital board members in 2015. The hospital is seeking to abandon a 64-acre hospital campus and construct a new hospital downtown. This concept would require demolition of historical buildings and streets and threatens over 40 businesses. Both the Utica Chamber and the Genesis Group have never allowed them to share their concerns with their boards or membership.
