Our Thoughts on their facts...

TOPIC FOR TUESDAY, May 7, 2019:

What will happen to the existing hospital campuses?

Here are the key facts about the process to determine what will happen to the existing campuses:

o MVHS has contracted with an Albany-based engineering consulting firm, CHA Consulting, Inc., to help us with a comprehensive evaluation of the potential reuse of all three campuses (Faxton, St. Luke’s, and St. Elizabeth’s). While we anticipate that the Faxton campus will continue to house the Regional Cancer Center, Urgent Care, Outpatient Dialysis and other ancillary services, we believe that part of our due diligence is to make sure all the campus evaluations are as comprehensive as possible.

o CHA Consulting began its work in late March and last week held a series of meetings with elected officials, neighbors and businesses adjacent to the three MVHS campuses. There was a great deal of participation and ideas for the reuse of the campus. This feedback is an important part of our study into the reuse of the campuses.

o In other parts of the country where new hospitals have been built, the existing hospital campuses have been converted to schools, multi-use buildings (e.g., housing, businesses and apartments), government office buildings and townhouses or condos.

o The CHA Consulting evaluation and recommendations are anticipated to be done by early 2020.
