Our Thoughts on their facts...

Just their Facts

TOPIC FOR TUESDAY, MAY 28, 2019:

What are the plans for parking at the new Regional Medical Center?

Parking will be available in both a parking garage and on surface parking lots around the hospital.

o Oneida County, City of Utica and MVHS are collaborating to build a new, 1,550-car garage. The majority of spaces will be for employees, medical staff, visitors and patients, with some spots reserved for use by the community. It is anticipated that additional spaces in the garage will be available in the evenings for sporting events.

o Additional parking will be available on surface lots that are walking-distance to the medical center.

o The Emergency Department (ED) will have dedicated parking in the garage close to the ED entrance.

o It’s too early in the project to know which employees will be parking in which areas, but we will keep you updated as we move this forward.

o Importantly, employees will not have to pay for parking.

The new parking structure will be built and owned by Oneida County with County and City sharing the cost of construction.

MVHS will be responsible for the operation and maintenance costs.
