Springfield Regional Medical Center, Springfield, OH

The Mohawk Valley Health System has Sighted Various Hospitals, which they visited while researching their Oneida County Concept. We're also looking at Springfield because a pro downtown Facebook group referenced it as an example.

Please join our group discussion on Springfield Regional Medical Center on Facebook.

This hospital opened in Springfield, OH in November 2011, after ten years of planning. You will learn their planned Medical Office Building (M.O.B.) was canceled in 2014 after construction was already underway!

Since that time, and until present, the hospital and groups are working to revive Downtown Springfield. According to one local, "The restaurants and food trucks in the area surrounding those facilities appear to be doing well. However, we are still a long way from where we want to be in growing retail opportunities in downtown.

CMHP spokesman Dave Lamb said the decision was made after discussions with key members of the physician community in the greater Springfield area. We feel the dollars for construction, followed by additional expense until the building could become financially viable, might be better spent on continuing to improve the health of our community, per a hospital Board of Director in a press release.

Our group wants a new hospital, however as we have said for over 2-1/2 years: the location is all wrong, Here's 20+ Reasons Why, but it conflicts with Utica's small scale and our Master Plan.

The Utica concept would equal another destructive phase of urban renewal for our downtown, and as the above story suggests - Springfield Regional Medical Center did not revive it's downtown. Take action, write a letter and or make a call... here the Contact Information you need.
