MVHS's New Hospital Is Sinking...
December 17, 2022 - In the shadow of the New Wynn Hospital, ground was broken on a new 94,000 square foot medical facility... and in the comments, "Word is the Wynn hospital is sinking and as a result some windows are breaking. Not sure if that’s the case but if so, hope this place is on better ground!"
July 19, 2022 - Is the Hospital Sinking? MVHS states...
During the design phase of the project, benchmark elevations were established through a professional survey to
locate the hospital in the x, y and z axis. These benchmarks are used throughout multiple phases of construction
to ensure proper elevations are being held. The first floor of the hospital was poured in the summer of 2020 to
an elevation of 432.1. The professional surveyor inputs the project benchmarks within the site model to
guarantee proper grading and elevations of site utilities.
Additionally, the canopy concrete foundations were installed in the June of 2022 tying back to the project
benchmarks. The project team frequently spot checks rim elevations of site structures and site grading relative
to the Finish Floor Elevation (FFE) of the hospital ensuring no change in elevation. This was recently
performed for the project and the FFE relative to benchmark elevations remains at 432.1
Furthermore, at the end of the project, an ALTA Boundary Survey Update is performed for compliance. This is
a field survey update to locate physical features needed for boundary line analysis and horizontal and vertical
mapping of the site. The survey map will reflect the 1999 ALTA/ACSM land title survey requirements for an
urban class survey. "
November 18, 2018 - A Utica-area political cabal created a fraudulent SEQR, so no surprise to read...
The DEIS for Utica's downtown hospital project just gets better and better. Contaminated urban fill on top of reactive clay and pyritic shale, with a water table just a few feet below the surface.

This is going to be glorious. pic.twitter.com/cCxqR6WU2S
Wondering why the presence of pyritic shale at the site of Utica's proposed downtown hospital is an issue? This is a good introduction. The combination of reactive expansion and acid leaching is particularly damaging to buildings using concrete piers.https://t.co/A8AlhuESoj
