Cities have land, people, businesses and opportunities! Cities grew quickly during our industrial reveloution, as did Downtown Utica, and later populations departed as automobiles created our suburbs.

Cities have thus been subjected to major challenges. Retailers moved out too, and city centers struggled. Online sales introduce new changes and opportunities as cities continue to adapt. Plans like Urban Renewal came down from the federal government, mixing with local developments and developers.

October 10, 2016 The story At Last, a Plan to Reinvent Penn Station, looks at a very large urban project that combined plenty of politics, and reads "Since a strong case can be made for the public’s welfare, perhaps Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo should consider Eminent Domain."


May 30, 2016 - Downtown developer acquires more real estate, which reads in part, “It would add to the multitude of reasons for people to visit downtown, work downtown and live downtown,” said Tony Kroeger, Dayton city planner. It’s another piece of the puzzle."
