December 18, 2018 - It never made any sense! Why close both Utica hospitals and just have a single new one? Nope, that was not their plan, however they just could not tell us. What they envision is two hospitals, one for the well-to-do, and one for the poor folks.
Our group #NoHospitalDowntown is talking about this...
The Two Hospital Concept, their plan all along...
No, the St. Luke’s Campus isn’t going to close! It’s only St. Elizabeth’s they’re trying to strip of their hospital operating certificate.
The downtown hospital would become the poor folks hospital, while St. Luke’s would be for the wealthier folks.
New York State would own the downtown government hospital, overseen by a new local nonprofit board drawn from Utica’s multiple nonprofit agencies.
Another “more upscale” healthcare system will takeover St. Luke’s, who’ll of course accept some of MVHS’s well-to-do board members.

Eventually St. Elizabeth College of Nursing will transition to Utica College at the new “Millionaires’ Hospital”.
A rich developer would eventually purchase the vacant St. Elizabeth’s hospital campus, but only after New State taxpayers fund the $20M demolition and remediation efforts.
The poor folks hospital’s parking garage would be dominated and controlled by Oneida County for AUD-area events and visitors.
Wouldn’t these achievements match the social-economic divide that Utica and New Hartford are so well known for?
Utica needs more than one hospital, they know that, but just didn't want to admit their plans...
Corning much smaller city needs at least 30 acres https://t.co/3ZfWvjCiAA In bigger Utica, future "Nano Meca", less? https://t.co/PXs3OCJMhk pic.twitter.com/ddbDBIDX72
