Why ignore the vast 100 acres of Old Main? This property is already off the tax rolls, and West Utica is less populated with businesses so transferring jobs there might make more sense. However, we've asked and many others have, What's So Wrong With St. Luke's? We are tracking the local
Old Main is on Facebook at "Utica Psych": Old Main, Utica State Hospital. Smaller portions of the grounds are now home to Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center and McPike Addiction Treatment Center, and nearby is the York Street Clinic.
June 2015 - The Board of MVHS had before them a site plan that would not bulddoze Downtown Utica, not displace businesses, and would not remove land from Utica's tax rolls! Here's the new 92-acre site plan, behind "Old Main", located on grounds at The Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center.
Our feelings exactly!! But that’s regarding #mvhsdowntown... build it at St. Luke’s - Campus is unanimously @MVHealthSystem board approved and site plan was in place in 2015!

January 27, 2018 - Our Group Is Wondering why bulldoze and disrupt 40+ plus businesses downtown? When there is 100-acres at Old Main already off the tax rolls and under a mile away from proposed site...
One of the first SERQ questions, “What are the alternative locations?” Answer: 1ST alternative: unanimously board approved St. Luke’s https://t.co/5kJLjJkrIt 2ND alternative: Old Main’s 100-acre campus shown in the image here... pic.twitter.com/tZlCV6WVDh

As shown above their "#MVHSDOWNTOWN concept" fits onto this massive old hospital site without demolishing a single building.
Also in the above image (bottom, left), one can see the Brigham Building. As this story (from Febuary 13, 2014) states, State has no plans for historic buildings that sit mostly unused. An old hospital building sits, of no use, and rotting, as downtown's historical treasures face demolition and 41+ businesses are pushed around.
Ignored for a new hospital, maybe Old Main could be the site for the County Executive's casino...
Old Main Casino in West Utica? 100 acres, huge historic hospital that's a big tourist draw. Add gaming, stables and "Old West" reenactments! pic.twitter.com/WMA9yudlcW

No, we're not serious, just wanted to point out all the space currently being ignored! And unlike this old hospital site, St. Elizabeths, District of Columbia, old Main has sat neglected for a very long time.
Wow, older hospitals use to last much longer! Old Main was used for 135 years...
We need a new hospital, we need a new hospital! Really? Any code issues at St. Luke's, Faxton or St. Elizabeth's? pic.twitter.com/MPPbyg4BsY

#NoHospitalDowntown is not anti-new hospital, we simply do not want a hospital in Downtown Utica. Here's Why We Oppose The Downtown Utica Hospital Concept and Many Agree!
